Macmillan Home Support Volunteer

As a Macmillan Home Support Volunteer, you’ll get a chance to meet new people and be part of an amazing team of Volunteers. It is really important to us that our Volunteers provide the practical and emotional assistance required to our clients on cancer treatment plans and that's why we will provide you with the support, supervision, volunteer insurance, and training required for the role. You will be providing face-to-face assistance within the home to enable an older person living with the early stages of cancer, to complete their treatment. There will be a variety of interesting support activities such as completing forms, shopping, or collecting prescriptions from the pharmacy and signposting to community services. You will also be providing emotional support by showing empathy, actively listening, and providing encouragement and reassurance. You can travel across areas within East Sussex and right now we need volunteers within the Eastbourne, Lewes and Hailsham environs. You will be reimbursed the cost of your travel and telephone expenses. The duration required is usually up to twelve weeks, but this can depend upon the cancer treatment plan and we are happy to be flexible with your time. You will need to be contactable by phone and make sure that the patient’s booked appointments with you are met. We’ll provide all the training and support that you need and it's really easy to start the volunteering process with us. If you’re over 18 years old and ready to make a huge difference to a cancer patients life, just click on ‘Apply’ and get filling in your details!
